29 October 2018 - Top 6 tips for a great winter
The days are getting shorter and it's time to take your winter coat out of the closet. Make it a busy and cosy winter with these fun tips. Are you going to experience the season with us?
This is the perfect outing when you prefer the warm indoors.
Enjoy happy tunes and learn about all kinds of self-playing musical instruments. Museum Speelklok has a huge collection of interactive pieces to experience and enjoy. Experience an interactive exhibition of unique pieces. Did you know that the museum even has a piece that required a firearms permit while being set up?
Afterwards, you can go relax at Stayokay Utrecht-Centrum, which is a short walk from the museum.
Tip 2: On the move with horses
Want to go out anyway? Enjoy a beautiful tour on horseback through Oost-Kapelle! Experience multiple rides on horseback, or gallop along the surf on the beach. Revel in the winter sun! There are also special pony rides available for children. Have you been outside long enough? Stay in a real castle at Stayokay Domburg.
Tip 3: Get a breath of fresh air in the dunes
For those who think that there's nothing to discover during the winter season, think twice! Have an adventure in the Soesterduinen, climb in one of the beautiful trees, or have a walk with your dog. There is a forest nearby with a great jogging trail, so there's no excuse to sit still! When you're done, wipe the sand off your shoes on the doormat of Stayokay Soest, which is just a short drive away from the dunes.
Are you lucky enough to see some snowfall? The dunes are also perfect for sledding!
Tip 4: A nice addition!
Only one activity per location? That can be quite boring compared to Zwitsal in Apeldoorn! In this old soap factory, you can fill your day with various activities. You can jump about within the indoor trampoline room, for example, or learn more about the brewery. Did you know that up to 3,000 litres of unique beer are brewed here per week? Via a tour, you can also taste just how special this beer really is. And if that's not interesting enough, you can also enjoy the indoor skate park, or the second-hand shop that can also be found on-site.
Had your share of jumping around? Then stay at Stayokay Apeldoorn in the Veluwe forest.
Tip 5: All aboard!
Skate between the trains at the railway museum in Utrecht. They even take care of your transport! From Utrecht Central Station, you can take a special train to the museum. During the winter months, the Railway Museum is full of winter activities and decorations. Complete the experience and let yourself dream away in locomotive style in our Railway Museum Room.
Tip 6: A list of tips in one tip!
Colourful lights, delicious food, and decorated trees... Experience the Christmas atmosphere at one of these countless Christmas markets spread throughout the Netherlands! Every Christmas market is different. Step into a Live Charles Dickens story in Deventer, or go on a Christmas adventure in the caves of Valkenburg! Feel like a Prince afterwards, whilst staying in Assumburg Castle in Heemskerk.
