Can you believe it? It's 59 days of christmas in Valkenburg. From 12th of november till the 9th of january. It's not only a christmas paradise above the ground, but also underground! Go down the famous caves of Valkenburg and wander through the halls of the Fluweelengrot and Gemeentegrot. Stroll along the stalls filled with Christmas presents, Christmas decorations and delicacies.You can also take a ride on the 🚡 cable car, see a miniature Christmas story exhibition or go on a guided tour of the caves with a real Christmas elf. The local entrepreneurs also have all kinds of goodies for sale at the regional products plaza especially for these festive weeks in December. With all the fresh products and delicacies on sale, there is plenty of inspiration for the dinner table.
Are you looking for a truly magical experience? Then you really should take a ride on the Ferris wheel. From your seat you have a wonderful view of all the lights in the city centre. Maastricht from a completely different perspective. Will you then walk one of the light routes? If that doesn't get you in the Christmas spirit, then we don't know what will!
From 19 December to 3 January, the RAI in Amsterdam will be transformed into a true winter paradise. Not a traditional Christmas market, but a place where you would like to lock yourself away for the whole winter. You can sing your heart out to Tino Martin, dance in the après-ski bar or sing ABBA songs at the karaoke bar. Or visit the Snow Paradise, where you can go ice racing, cross-country skiing and race down the tubeslide. On the winter square, you can ride the merry-go-round, the carousel and roast marshmallows. Tired after all these fantastic activities? Then just plop down in the winter cinema and watch a Christmas film. You can score a ticket for the winter paradise from €14.50.
From 19 to 21 November, Winter Heerlijckheid takes place on the beautiful Warmelo estate in Diepenheim. This is the smallest town in Twente and is bursting with centuries-old castles and country estates. You will find home-made dishes and delicious wines, antique and bric-a-brac home and garden decorations, art presentations and fashion. Put on your best boots, because the event takes place outside. Stroll through the beautiful country estate, the meadows and the old orchard of Warmelo Estate. In the evening, everything is illuminated and it is a very cosy spectacle. Your dog is also welcome to join you at the fair.
Afterwards, you can stay the night in the special hunting lodge at Stayokay Gorssel.
The enchanting Aachener Weihnachtsmarkt Christmas market is located in Aachen, Germany. With 115 stalls to visit, strolling around the market is an enchanting experience. Will you choose a delicious mulled wine to warm yourself up, will you buy a light house to go with your festive Christmas decorations at home, or will you buy some last-minute postcards to send to your loved ones for the holidays? Who knows, we might even find you shooting an ice stick at the curling rink! Everything is possible.
Are you curious how Christmas used to be celebrated? Then visit the exhibition 'Lebenskultur' in the Couven Museum. You will get to see the old Christmas traditions with beautiful nativity scenes and decorations. All of this is just a half-hour drive from Stayokay Maastricht.
Molen de Ster organises a terrific winter market on 12 December 2021. In the yard and in the mill will be 50 stalls full of beautiful and tasty things. Here you can browse and look for the perfect Christmas present. There will be illustrations, jewellery, felt artworks, poetry, plants and ceramics. The millers are also present, to show what they have to offer as traditional woodcutters. Warm up with glühwein, snert (split pea soup) or a hot chocolate. You can also roast marsmallows by the fire. This market is pure cosiness. During the market there is live music and a true Christmas choir! The market can be visited free of charge.

Until the 9th of January, you can completely immerse yourself in the Christmas atmosphere in Hasselt. In Winterland Hasselt, you'll be amazed. You can take a spin in the giant Ferris wheel, which is also a perfect place to take a nice picture, or you can skate on the covered skating rink! For the little ones, there is also a Christmas train and from 8 December Father Christmas will be there every day! Put on your warm clothes and bring your ice skates if you have them.
