City break: Amsterdam

12 September 2020

Our capital city has plenty of hotspots where you can easily avoid the crowds.

Even in cultural spots like museums and theatres, they know exactly how to make your day out as safe as possible. Here's a few of our favourites.

Swing on the Roof

Amsterdam knows many places with a beautiful view, but this one really has swing. On the IJ you will find the 360-degree observation deck with roof swing. At about 100 meters above the ground, you feel like the king of the world.

Climb Aboard

Discover 500 years of maritime history in this beautiful old warehouse. The wild stories of our ancestors have not all sunken to the bottom of the sea. At the Maritime Museum you can admire centuries-old world maps and atlases. You can even sneak a peek in the replica of the famous VOC ship!

Just Around the Corner

A street art tour is always a good idea. In a city like Amsterdam, there are countless hidden pearls among the tourist eye catchers. After all, you don't know what you will encounter around every street corner. The tour guides at Street Art Museum Amsterdam do know, though. They'll take you along in a playful way, telling the stories of various artists.

The Place to Be(er)

After a day full of city discoveries, it's time to get to know the real Amsterdam. Just like the city, each beer here also has its own story and history. Brouwerij ’t IJ is a great example. Since 1985, they have shown their love for Amsterdam in delicious special brews.

Art With an Industrial Edge

The NDSM wharf is the perfect place if you want to avoid the hustle and bustle of the city. At this industrial spot in Amsterdam North, industry and creativity blend together. Walk through works of art, enjoy the view of the water, and enjoy culinary spots like Pllek and Noorderlicht.
