King of Croquettes

If you fancy a greasy snack, you can of course pop into the nearest snack bar, but in The Hague they take a more upmarket approach to this Dutch delicacy.

Here, you can choose from about ten different varieties of croquettes and they’re all handmade.

“At the Kroket Loket, you can eat a traditional Dutch meat ragout-filled croquette or choose from ten other fillings.”

At the Kroket Loket, alongside the traditional Dutch meat ragout croquette, they sell versions such as Peking duck, chorizo, crab and truffles with wild mushrooms. If you can’t choose which one, you can order the taster option with six different ones. The great thing about this single product concept is that everything is handmade and you get to choose from a wide range of sauces, such a spicy mayonnaise. Another branch opened recently in Rotterdam.

Hey, did you know?

The Kroket Loket is located in Papestraat, one of the oldest streets in The Hague. There are lots of places to eat and drink here, such as the narrowest snack bar in town and De Paap music bar. It was on this site that the ADO Den Haag football club was founded in 1905, when the bar was called Café Het Hof van Berlijn.
