Roe deer and radar

Airbase Park Soesterberg on the Utrecht Ridge is a very unusual nature reserve where you can explore the former airbase on foot or by bicycle with or without a guide.

The information centre is in the Nationaal Militair Museum, which is also a great place to visit.

Airbase Park Soesterberg is a unique wildlife area where military heritage meets art and nature.

Where else can you cycle to a bunker in which you can view art or where you come across remnants of military history hidden among the trees? At Airbase Park Soesterberg, you can enjoy a unique blend of military heritage, art and nature. One of the sightseeing options is the Belvedère building (1910), which served as a lookout pavilion and later a First Aid post and classroom. Highly recommended is a cycling excursion through the area with a Utrechts Landschap guide.

Hey, did you know?

When you walk or cycle in the area, you can’t help but notice the radar stations which are still operational and used by the Air Force to monitor our airspace.
