If the sun’s out, take a picnic basket and rug and head off to Sonsbeek, one of the most beautiful urban parks in the Netherlands.
Sonsbeek is Arnhem’s largest green attraction. People of all ages come here to exercise, relax or grab a bite to eat at one of the restaurants. Not to be missed is Stadsvill Sonsbeek, a stunning building with grand café on top of Hartjesberg with stunning views over the park. Be sure to climb the Belvédère lookout tower for breathtaking views of Arnhem and the surrounding area. N.B. the tower is only open on Sundays.
Nice to know
The Sonsbeek Market, a blend of local market and a theatrical outdoor festival, is held on the first Sunday of every month. Among other things, you can buy flour and baking ingredients from the Witte Watermolen in the park.
