For art buffs & amateurs

One of the newest museums in the Netherlands is in Wassenaar: Museum Voorlinden.

The place to admire modern and contemporary art on an estate that dates back to Roman times. The gardens surrounding the museum are also well worth visiting.

You don’t have to be an art connoisseur to enjoy the exhibits; they’ve been put there to be viewed.

Museum Voorlinden is home to a collection of art put together by local businessman Joop van Caldenborgh over the past 50 years. You don’t have to be an art connoisseur to enjoy the exhibits; they’ve been put there to be viewed because Van Caldenborgh feels it important for the museum to be accessible to a wide audience. Besides paintings from various periods, the museum also hosts sculptures and Skyspace: a chamber with a square aperture in the ceiling.

Hey, did you know?

Clingenbosch Sculpture Garden is just a stone’s throw from the museum. On Thursday afternoons from May to October, an experienced guide can take you along more than 60 modern and contemporary works, some of which were designed especially for the location.
