The safety of our guests is of paramount importance to us, therefore we'll keep this page up to date with information which may affect your stay.

Around the world we've all been impacted by the measures being taken to tackle the spread of the coronavirus. Due to the sharp decline in reservations we're unfortunately being forced to close all 22 of our hostels until 6 April 2020.

This is unfortunate for everyone, but health is paramount. Unfortunately, this has consequences for reservations made.

What happens with existing bookings?

That depends on your arrival date. Check below which applies to you and read the corresponding conditions.

Bookings up to 20 guests, through 6 April 2020

The hostel will contact you as soon as possible if you have a reservation between now and April 6. This is done in order of arrival date.

For bookings made on Stayokay.com

In principle, all bookings via Stayokay.com can be cancelled, unless you have opted for 'non-flex'. Given the special circumstances, we will offer everyone who has booked 'non-flex' on Stayokay.com for a stay between now and 6 April 2020 a voucher for the amount of the booking, valid for a booking & stay until 30 April 2021. We will send this to you by email within 2 to 3 weeks. If you choose to decline the voucher, the value of the booking will not be returned.

For bookings through external booking sites such as Booking.com or Expedia

Please refer to the website where you made your booking. There you can cancel the booking free of charge.

If the cancellation for Booking.com is within 48 hours of arrival, you cannot cancel via the website, but you can call Booking.com customer service (+31-20-7125661).

For bookings made directly at the hostel, eg by phone

This booking can be cancelled free of charge. The hostel will contact you for arrivals planned between now and April 6, 2020.

Bookings up to 20 guests, from 7 April 2020

We've noticed that there are questions about whether the hostels will indeed open again from the 7th of April, but unfortunately we're not yet able to clarify this. We'll make a decision about this on the 1st of April. So keep an eye on our website from 12 noon on Wed. 1 April for information about which hostels are re-opening from 7 April 2020.

If we're forced to keep the hostels closed longer, we will adjust our cancellation conditions in due course and update them here.

Of course we hope to give you a warm welcome in one of our hostels soon.

Can I still make a reservation for later in the year?

Absolutely! We hope this intense period will pass quickly and that we can open the doors again to everyone.

Groups larger than 20 guests

Check-in date Cancellation terms
16/3/2020 - 31/5/2020 Your reservation for this period can be moved to another date until the end of 2021 in any of our 22 hostels at the then-current rates, based on availability. Our staff at the booking office or at the hostels will approach you to set a new date and/or location. If the group is unable or unwilling to reschedule, a 25% cancellation fee will be charged on accommodation and meals.
1/6/2020 - 31/7/2020 We have also eased our standard cancellation policy for this period. You can cancel free of charge up to 30 days before the arrival date. After that, the cancellation costs per week are:
- 25% up to 21 days before arrival
- 50% up to 14 days before arrival
- 75% up to 7 days before arrival
- 90% in the week before arrival
From 1/8/2020 From this period the standard cancellation policy will apply again.

Where can I direct questions about group bookings?

As you can probably expect, our booking office is very bust at the moment. We're trying to respond to everyone as quickly as possible, but a longer than normal waiting time must be taken into account. We do ask that you please keep all correspondence to email via bookingoffice@stayokay.com for the time being.

Meetings, parties & events

Reservations without overnight stays of meetings, parties and other events (until 31 May) can also be moved to another date up to the end of 2021 in any of our 22 hostels at the then-current rates, based on availability. If the group is unable or unwilling to reschedule, a 25% cancellation fee will be charged on the total value of the reservation.
