Hurrah! Miffy has her own room at Stayokay

10 May 2017

Hostel chain Stayokay is opening a Miffy room at its recently opened Stayokay Utrecht City Centre on Neude square today. The room will be permanently available for booking and is a celebration of all things Miffy, the world-famous bunny created by writer, artist and designer Dick Bruna, who died earlier this year.

The four-person room in Utrecht is decorated entirely in Miffy style and has an en-suite toilet and a toy chest full of Miffy games and accessories. You will find Miffy lamps, a Miffy beanbag chair, Miffy wall paintings, Miffy towels and Miffy linens in the room. Children can enjoy their favourite bunny character here like never before. When evening falls, they can drift off to dreamland under a Miffy-themed starry sky.

Innovative concepts

Managing Director of Stayokay, Marijke Schreiner: ‘Stayokay is constantly on the lookout for innovative concepts, special locations and surprising forms of cooperation. When the Miffy museum contacted us about this cooperation, we were immediately enthusiastic. The Miffy room is an extremely good fit for the target group of “families”, which Stayokay wants to attract more of. Utrecht is of course the birthplace of Miffy and Dick Bruna, so where better to open this room than in this beautiful city?’

Tribute

Hostel manager Eric van der Hulst: ‘In contrast to the sad news about Dick Bruna’s death, the birth of the Miffy room at Stayokay is some good news. An initially unintentional, but lovely posthumous tribute. Bruna’s mission to give children space for their own imagination is expressed well in the hotel room. The children are encouraged to themselves set out to explore the Miffy museum.’

To book

The Miffy room can be booked starting from €129. This includes beds and linens, Miffy shower gel and shampoo, lavish breakfast on genuine Miffy crockery, a surprise for the children and a family ticket to the Miffy museum, which gives you access at all times. A cot is available on request.
