Up hill and down dale
If you want to combine action with a unique landscape, explore the Brabantse Wal around Bergen op Zoom on a mountain bike. You can pedal through woods or speed over the rolling Bergen Moor.
In spring 2017, two new mountain bike routes were opened. Both routes start and finish at Stayokay on Boslustweg. One route loops around the Bergen Moor. You really have to get out of the saddle to climb some of the hills. There’s also a lot of loose sand requiring some skilful handling, which is why it’s sometimes known as the ‘black run’. The trail that runs through the forest is considerably easier. You can rent a mountain bike at Brabantse Wal climbing forest.
Nice to know!
The Brabantse Wal is a unique nature reserve nestled between Zeeland and Flanders. What is remarkable is the differences in elevation marked by an escarpment or ‘zoom’. On one side there are the Zeeland clay polder and on the other side the Brabant sand. In some places, the height difference is 20 metres.
