Sky high above the waves

For a long time, Scheveningen Pier was the place to go for cheap thrills and a greasy snack, but those days have come and gone.

These days there are trendy food trucks and you can board a luxury Ferris wheel for panoramic views of the city and coastline.

“From the Ferris wheel you have panoramic views over the sea, beach and skyline of The Hague.”

The Skyview de Pier Ferris wheel is currently one of Scheveningen’s most popular attractions and is Europe’s first Ferris wheel over the sea. The wheel was built eight metres over the North Sea and you ride in one of 36 luxury, air-conditioned gondolas. There are even private gondolas you can hire for a high tea, lunch or dinner. If you’re looking for more of a challenge, you may choose to go bungee jumping over the sea or whizz down a zip line from 60 metres up.

Hey, did you know?

If you want to get away from the tourist area, walk to the Keizerstraat. This is the beating heart of the old village. It’s where you’ll find the Scheveningse Vrouwtje; the statue that looks out to sea as a symbol of all the fishermen who never made it back.
