When you arrive on the Willem Barentszkade by ferry, the first thing you do is rent a bike. Because you really can’t go anywhere on Terschelling without a bike. It takes you to the most beautiful spots on the island: via the mudflats and along the panoramic vistas, through the forests and the dunes to the sea.
At Zeelen, one of the bicycle renters on Terschelling, you can choose from a large offer of bicycles. From mountain bikes to roadsters and from freight bicycles to tandem bikes. Of course, it’s also possible to explore the island on an e-bike. In fact: the e-bike is fully recommended. Without too much effort, you’ll almost fly from West-Terschelling to Oosterend, the last village on the island. The dunes also won’t present a challenge; and hard wind… whatever do you mean?!
nice to know
You can find about 70 kilometres of bicycle paths on the elongated island of 5 by 30 kilometres. From routes through the dunes and country roads across the country side to a beautiful path along the mudflat coast.
