Bird Watching and Art Spotting

Be sure to bring your plant and bird guide when you visit De Paltz Estate.

This estate lies in the heart of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug and is surrounded by a rich flora and fauna. So, bring your binoculars to spot hawks, a black woodpecker and the goldcrest.

“Walk through a beautiful nature area with beech lanes, high Douglas firs and a stunning valley.”

For a walk on the estate, park your car (or bike) near the entrance of the former Vliegbasis Soesterberg. A 3.4-kilometre long walk takes you through a beautiful nature area with beech lanes, high Douglas firs and a stunning valley. In addition to the many special birds that nest here, you can also see butterflies, deer and foxes. The villa on the estate houses the Herman van Veen Arts Center. Have a cup of coffee there and view the artworks by Herman van Veen.
