About this hostel
The cosy waterside village of Heeg is situated on a former island bordering the Heegermeer, the largest lake in all of Friesland.
In the hostel
The hostel is ideal for activity loving groups. This water's edge hostel provides an exceptional view from every angle. Enjoy a drink on the terrace and watch the Frisian water sports literally sail past. The hostel has its own CWO-recognised sailing school: It Beaken. It's the ideal place to learn how to sail, rent your own boat at the hostel, or go sailing with a skipper.
Looking for some Frisian ambiance? The hostel also has a restaurant with a view of the water, and a cosy brown pub with a wonderful waterside terrace. You can book a shared or private room, each with their own shower and toilet. Bikes can be rented from the reception, and a hearty breakfast buffet awaits you every morning. And to top things off, the hostel is sustainable as well. We separate our waste and make use of bulk packaging instead of small plastic packaging.
What to expect
Local hot spots
Heeg is also known as the 'eldorado of water sports' among water sports lovers. The Heegermeer is connected to all the waterways of Friesland. This gives the village a super centralised location allowing you to meet many different sailors. But did you know that you can also do some amazing water skiing and wakeboarding here? Or would you rather stick to dry land? This is also possible, of course! Visit the eleven cities of Friesland by bike or have a look in the Fries Scheepvaart Museum in Sneek!
