Full Steam Ahead on the Train
Want to experience a trip from the past? Step on board the historic steam locomotives from the Veluwse Stoomtrein Maatschappij. Accompanied by a white column of smoke and the sound of the steam whistle, you can travel the over 100-year-old railroad between Apeldoorn and Dieren.
Board the train at the Apeldoorn station for your trip back in time. Here, the VSM departs towards Dieren across the Veluwe and along the IJsselvallei: a beautiful route with forest and meadows. When you purchase a day ticket, you can travel the whole route in both directions. On the way back, you’ll be stopping at Museumdepot Beekbergen for about 40 minutes. This is the perfect opportunity to see even more locomotives up close. The old station building houses a restaurant and a souvenir shop.
Nice to know!
The VSM has various steam and diesel locomotives in its collection. It also has carriages: from the so-called ‘Austrian hearses’ with open balconies to the Dutch ‘Blokkendozen’ from the twenties of the previous century.
