Off to the Oude Noorden

Of course, you have to pay the Koopgoot a visit, as that’s what Rotterdam’s known for after all. But if you wish to escape the masses, walk to cosy working-class neighbourhood Oude Noorden. It’s particularly fun around the Zwaanhals and Zaagmolenkade.

“In the cosy, old working-class neighbourhood Oude Noorden, you can find countless fun eating establishments and unique shops.”

There’s always something to do in the Oude Noorden. This already starts at the Noordplein, that has markets and festivals. In the surrounding streets, you can find plenty of great spots. Such as Lof der Zoetheid, the place to be for afternoon tea. Need a coffee? Hurry to Hopper! And if it’s time for ice cream? Cross the intersection to IJssalon Koen. Finally, for a refreshing beer, go to the Zaagmolenkade with Brewery Noordt. Along the way, you’ll find plenty of other eating establishments and shops.

Fun fact

The Oude Noorden is situated on the Rotte river, to which Rotterdam owes its name.
