There’s only one place the people of Heemskerk will send you for ice cream: IJssalon Verdonk. Dating back to 1927, it’s the oldest ice cream salon in the country. The craft ice cream they make there has won numerous awards and simply has to be tried!
IJssalon Verdonk has been a fixture of Heemskerk for years. Its terrace is the place to be to enjoy the sun or round off a day on the beach. Even when the temperature drops, the ice cream tastes delicious. It’s made freshly every day by ice cream specialist Ard Geel, who has the right to the title Master Ice Cream Maker and has won various international awards. He uses only the best local farmhouse milk, without additives. They also have lactose-free and gluten-free ice cream.
