The island of Terschelling is a lovely holiday destination with an amazing landscape. Wherever you are and whatever you do, this ‘Pearl of the Wadden Sea’ will never fail to surprise you.

Stayokay Terschelling has a beautiful location on the top of a dune. Sitting in the hostel’s restaurant or bar, you are treated to a splendid view of the famous shallows of the Wadden! The ferry to the mainland docks within walking distance of the hostel, at the village of West-Terschelling. This seaport village is famous for its pretty commandeurswoningen (‘captain’s homes’), Lutine cannons and the Brandaris lighthouse. Back in the hostel, the chefs enjoy cooking up a great dinner for you and on request they can prepare an extra festive meal in the form of a buffet or barbecue. Children can have hours of fun on the equipment in the outdoor playground. Stayokay Terschelling is a welcoming haven to relax and to catch your breath for a while!

Travelling plan

Public transport: Take the train or (interliner) bus to Harlingen-Haven station. This is where you board the ferry to Terschelling. From Harlingen-Harbour, take the ‘Rederij Doeksen’ ferry. The regular ferry trip takes about 2 hours. There is also a faster line that takes 45 minutes. Departure times depend on the season. When you arrive on Terschelling walk along the bicycle path to the hostel. Or you can take a bus; every route goes past the hostel. Get off at the Dellewal stop. Private transport: Go to Harlingen. If you are travelling by car, it’s a good idea to reserve a place on the ferry. Bear in mind that ferry service to the island is limited.
