You can reach this historic hostel via the main road leading through the friendly village of Scheemda. This 18th-century Groningen fortified manor was once the residence of a wealthy local family. Standing on its steps, you can sense the location’s age-old history and stepping into the period room will take you back to the days of yore. Today, the hostel offers small, contemporarily furnished rooms and intimate public areas, including a brown café. The cosy hostel in Scheemda is a perfect base of operations for embarking on a tour of the Netherlands’ northernmost regions.
