With its own CWO-certified sailing school ‘Oer 't Hout’, Stayokay Grou is the place to be for sailing enthusiasts! This modern, bustling hostel is located in the centre of Grou, on the shores of Pikmeer Lake. It’s a unique spot, with a landing stage and sailing boats on the complex’ doorstep. And if you’re looking for a place to sit out of the wind, look no further than the hostel’s cosy bar. With a fireplace crackling in the background, you can enjoy salty sailing adventures flying over the table. But if you still haven’t had enough of the water, the terrace offers a splendid view of the nearby lake!

Oer 't Hout Sailing School

The CWO-certified sailing school, Oer ‘t Hout, at Stayokay Grou offers a whole range of options for anyone looking to go sailing, or wanting to learn how to sail. Options include Whitsun Sailing Camps, summer holiday sailing weeks for young people, and morning courses and sailing weekends for adults. Families and groups are always welcome.

Travelling plan

Public transport: From Zwolle take the train that stops at all stations and route to Leeuwarden. Get off at Grou / Irnsum station. The hostel is approximately 1 km away. From the station, walk to the centre. After about 750 metres, across from the cemetery, take a left in the direction of the bay. Follow the road over the drawbridge and along the water. After about 100 m you will see the hostel. From Leeuwarden station you can take bus 28. Get off at the Parkstraat stop in the centre across from the Wilhelminapark and next to the cemetery. Cross the street and take a left, in the direction of the bay. Follow the road over the drawbridge and along the water. After about 100 m you will see the hostel. Private transport: Take the Grou exit (Heerenveen/Leeuwarden road) and take a right in the direction of the centre. After the post office take a left. At the end of the road at the fork take a left. The hostel is on the square.
